A goal kick is performed when the shoot dice indicates that the ball went out of the field (arrow) or that the goalkeeper saved the shot (glove).

During the goal kick the ball has to be placed on any of the squares inside the goal area. Both teams can relocate their players before the goal kick occurs, but the defending team must be out of the penalty area of the other team.
When the referee indicates it, the coach of the attacking team rolls the movement dice to see how many squares the ball can be moved through.
