Mazo version 1.2.1
Mazo 1.2.1 is now available for download. Mazo is a learning application that helps you memorize simple concepts using multimedia flash cards and spaced reviews.
This version fixes, in great part, a memory leak that occurred when navigating through the different views of the application. The problem had been introduced in version 1.1.0 with the migration to GTK 4 (the software that provides the graphical components used by Mazo).
Even though this fix improves the performance of Mazo, there can be interactions that still use more memory than they should. Namely:
- Navigating decks containing audio or video.
- Creating and editing cards.
The problem is being tracked and I expect to resolve it completely as soon as possible. Apparently, though, a complete solution depends on improvements to the GTK 4 bidings for Python (the programming language used to develop Mazo). Unfortunatelly, this could take months or years... In the meantime, I'll keep looking for possible ways to fix, or at least work around, the remaining issues.
The good thing is that I might be the only user of this application (right?).
